Aqaba Covid-19 infection imported, says its health director
Director of Aqaba Health Affairs, Dr. Sa’eb Abu Abboud, said the port city of Aqaba is so far virus-free.
The infection, which was announced on Wednesday during the press conference of the Minister of Health, was onboard a one-day tourist trip to the southern governorate, he pointed out.
Speaking to “Petra,” he said the epidemiological investigation teams at the Wadi al-Yatum crossing are working round the clock to test arrivals and collect random samples.
After testing the samples, a tourist, who left Aqaba on the same day, had tested positive before the lab results are announced, he noted.
All the results that have emerged to date are negative, he said, adding the epidemiological situation in Aqaba “is at its best and is under control,” according to the official.
