State Minister for Media Affairs Faisal al-Shboul, on Thursday, said that the national media is a key element for the success of Jordan’s reform march.
During a lecture at the Royal Jordanian National Defense College (RJNDC), al-Should reviewed the measures being taken to develop and regulate the media sector, in a way that enhances the policy of openness and contributes to conveying a message that embodies the original values of Jordanian society and protects its higher interests, stressing that media development is part of the modernization of the political system.
He pointed out that the media is a key partner in defending the national interest and protecting the national social fabric, clarifying the importance of transparency and credibility in spreading the media message.
Al-Shboul, who is also the Government’s Official Spokesperson, indicated that the misuse of social media tools has become an influential factor in destabilizing societies, since they are not subject to any standards.
He stressed the need to create a societal culture that is aware of the risks of spreading rumors and inaccurate information, namely, in times of crisis.
