Agadir Technical Unit, TAG-Consult sing agreement on applying ISO Certification

The Amman-based Agadir Technical Unit (ATU) and Talal Abu-Ghazaleh & Co. Consulting (TAG-Consult), a member of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org) signed a cooperation agreement for quality management systems. The agreement was signed by the ATU Executive Chief Fakhri Hazaimeh and TAG-Org Chairman Talal Abu-Ghazaleh.

The Agadir Agreement is a free trade agreement which aims at developing trade and economic ties among the southern Mediterranean countries namely: Egypt, Jordan, Morocco and Tunisia, and increasing economic integration among those countries as well as intensifying trade exchange and investments between them and the European Union.

The protocol also aims at boosting competitiveness among member countries and allowing their products into the EU markets, as well as expanding cooperation, commercial exchange and free trade between the four member states. The Agadir Agreement deals with significant issues such as customs, services, certificates of origin, government purchases, financial dealings, preventive measures, intellectual property, standards and specifications, dumping and mechanisms to resolve conflicts.

Hazaimeh expressed his happiness at entrusting TAG-Consult with the implementation of the Unit’s ISO systems which will enhance its efficiency and initiate European accreditation opportunities, since TAG-Org is one of the leading accrediting corporations granting accreditation to institutions for the quality processes and procedures they practically implement.

On his part, Abu-Ghazaleh expressed his pride at serving this key regional organization in line with his own personal concern and interest in inter-Arab trade which leads to an increase in the member states’ Gross National Product, creating more job opportunities and contributing to economic development in the Arab world.

He praised the role conducted by the Unit and its management, expressing the commitment and willingness of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization to serve the Unit in contributing to achieving the noble goals of the Agreement.

TAG-Consult will assess the work processes of the ATU under specific requirements for a quality management system in accordance with the ISO 9001:2015 and all issues related to risk management, strengths, weaknesses and staff training to ensure the readiness of the Unit for external audit to ultimately obtain the ISO9001:2015.
