9 COVID-19 related deaths, 1638 infections recorded Thursday
The Ministry of Health said Thursday it recorded 9 COVID-19 related deaths and 1,638 cases of the coronavirus across the Kingdom, bringing the death toll to 4,512and the total number of infections to 356,744.
The new infections were: 1,149 in Amman, 108 in Irbid, including 7 in Ramtha district, 86 in Zarqa, 85 in Balqa, 65 in Karak, 33 in Mafraq, 32 in Aqaba, 30 in Madaba, 22 in Ma’an, 16 in Jerash, and 12 in Tafila, according to the daily brief by the Health Ministry and the Prime Ministry on the pandemic.
130 cases admitted to hospitals today and 90 discharged, the daily brief said.
It said that 16,133 swab tests were taken today, bringing the total number of PCR tests conducted since the start of the pandemic to 4,315,789, with a positivity rate today of 10.15 per cent.
The Ministry called for adherence to defence orders and to follow preventive measures, especially wearing masks and avoiding gatherings of more than 20 people, and awareness campaigns it launched in partnership with a number of ministries and entities to prevent coronavirus infection, and also urged the public to sign on for vaccination.
