82 suspects arrested on drug-related charges

Amman, Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) personnel have arrested 82 drug dealers and users in various parts of the Kingdom, said Spokesperson of the Public Security Department, Lt. Col. Amer Sartawi on Sunday.

Following a tipoff, AND personnel carried out a raid in Amman, where 16 suspects were apprehended in possession of large quantities of narcotics and three firearms, while in Zarqa 16 others were arrested in possession of amounts of narcotics and a hunting rifle.

Raids were carried out in Irbid, the Jordan Valley, Mafraq, Central Badia and other governorates, which resulted in the arrest of 50 other suspects, Sartawi stated.

Two farms in Southern Shuna were raided, where AND personnel seized quantities of Hashish and Marijuana, as well as a firearm in the first farm, while in the second officers discovered Marijuana plants. Search for other involved suspects is still ongoing.
