78 regular students get full mark in 2020 Tawjihi exam –– Minister
Seventy-one regular students in the scientific stream and seven in the literary branch have scored 100 per cent ranking first in the 2020 General Secondary School Certificate (Tawjihi) exam that determines admission in higher education institutions, according to Education Minister Tayseer Al-Nuaimi.
Announcing the results at a press conference Saturday, he said that 33 male and female top achievers in the scientific branch were from government schools and 38 were from private schools, while those who scored the highest marks in the literary stream were 12 from government schools and 8 from private school.
Nuaimi said that the overall pass rate in the exam for this year was 55.6 per cent, 58.3 per cent in the academic stream and 50.2 per cent in the vocational education branch.
According to the minister, 178,270 students have registered for the exam, of whom 170,774 sat the exam and 96,568 passed.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research announced that submitting electronic applications for admission in official Jordanian universities will start Tuesday, August 18, and run until 12:00 midnight Tuesday, August 25.
