A judicial body specialized in corruption cases at the Amman Court of First Instance Tuesday convicted six government employees for issuing forged work permits and agricultural certificates.
During a public session presided over by Judge Nasser Salahin, the court jailed 5 of the convicts to one year and four months. The sixth was sentenced to four months in prison.
In another corruption case, a civil service employee was sentenced to five years in jail with hard labour after convicting him on charges of embezzlement, including profits from telecom companies’ offers to employees of the ministry where he worked. He was also fined JD30,000.
