33 virus deaths, 1,022 cases recorded in Kingdom Monday

The Ministry of Health said Monday it recorded 33 coronavirus deaths and 1,022 cases across the Kingdom, bringing the death toll to 9,125 and the caseload to 720,998.

The new infections were: 385 in Amman, 161 in Irbid, including 22 in Ramtha district, 129 in Zarqa, 77 in Balqa, 49 in Mafraq, 48 in Karak, 35 in Tafileh, 31 in Jerash, 31 in Madaba, 27 in Aqaba, 25 in Ma’an, including 4 in Petra, and 24 in Ajloun, according to the daily brief by the Health Ministry and the Prime Ministry.

It said that the number of currently active cases stands at 6,481, including 109 that were admitted today to hospitals, while 135 cases have been discharged, adding that the total number of confirmed cases being hospitalized has reached 902.

On the capacity of the Kingdom’s hospitals, the report said that the occupancy rate of isolation beds in the north reached 18 per cent, intensive care beds 26 per cent and ventilators 17 percent, it said.

The occupancy rate of isolation beds in the Central Region was at 18%, ICU beds 35% and ventilators 16%, it said.

In the south, the occupancy rate of isolation beds was at 11%, ICU beds 14% and ventilators at 12%, according to the report.

It also said that 1,815 COVID-19 patients recovered today in home isolation and in hospitals, bringing the total number of recoveries to 705,392.

It also said that 18,455 PCR tests were collected today, bringing the total number of tests since the start of the pandemic to 6,857,925, with a positivity rate today of about 5.54 per cent, compared to yesterday’s 4.96 per cent.
