24 Covid-19 deaths, 4,402 infections recorded Tuesday

The Ministry of Health said Tuesday that Jordan recorded 24 coronavirus deaths and 4,402 infections across the Kingdom, bringing the death toll from the pandemic to 12,048 and the caseload to 1,019,691.

According to the ministry’s daily brief, the positivity rate for the day was at 8.71 per cent.

It said that the number of currently active cases reached 65,748 with 179 admitted to hospitals today, adding that 159 cases have been discharged. It said that the total number of confirmed cases that are now hospitalized reached 1,308.

According to the daily report, the occupancy rate of isolation beds in the northern region was 33 per cent, intensive care beds was 54 per cent and ventilators 31 per cent.

The occupancy rate of isolation beds in the central region was at 32 percent, intensive care beds 44 per cent and ventilators 23 per cent, it said.

In the southern region, the occupancy rate of isolation beds was at 12 per cent, intensive care beds 13 per cent and ventilators 12 per cent, it said.

The ministry said that 5,047 Covid-19 patients have recovered, bringing the total number of expected recoveries by the end of the 14-day isolation period to 941,895.

It also said that 50,513 PCR tests were conducted today, bringing the total number of swab tests that had been collected since the beginning of the pandemic to 12,839,653.

Some 4,245,889 received the first COVID-19 jab, while 3,834,486 received the two jabs, the brief added.
