220 arrested, 333 vehicles seized during Tawjihi celebrations

Police arrested 20 persons who fired shots in the air and seized the firearms after the Ministry of Education announced the results of the General Secondary Education Certificate (Tawjihi) exams on Saturday, according to the Public Security Department (PSD).

In statement issued on Sunday, a department’s spokesman said that 200 people were also detained for other violations, 333 vehicles were impounded and 3,617 traffic tickets were issued for “wrongful festive expressions”.

The PSD’s various units have begun enforcing the security plan for the exam results and curbing all violations and associated wrong behaviors, especially the phenomenon of festive firing and dangerous traffic offenses, the spokesman added.
