Agricultural Committee in Sana’a discusses mechanism for activating activities of cooperative societies

The Agricultural and Fisheries Committee in Sana’a province, headed by governor Abdulbasit al-Hadi, discussed a mechanism for activating the associations’ activities at the isolation level.

The meeting reviewed the projects and administrative and technical work accomplished at the level of each of the sectoral associations according to the outputs of the previous meeting.

The meeting discussed the projects of the 1445 AH plan, and the procedures for establishing associations and activating their activities, in a way that contributes to the advancement of local development, especially in remote areas.

It stressed the importance of doubling efforts in promoting the work and outputs of the associations, in a way that contributes to reaching real partners to support the associations and market agricultural products.

It stressed the need to activate the role of the isolation cooperative societies, and to assign a public relations official for each association to promote its activities and open areas of cooperation with other parties, in addition to nominating accountants for the isolation societies that were selected within the models.

The meeting instructed the Offices of Planning and Development and Social Affairs and the sector associations to draw up a study for the establishment of development cooperative associations in the districts and sub-districts. The Agricultural Finance Unit in the province should fund the study and they obligated the officials of the sector associations to submit plans to establish associations in the districts and hand them over to the Office of Social Affairs within a week.

It touched on the procedures for enrolling students in the college of agriculture, and assigned the management of associations in the sectors to quickly raise those who wish to join the college from the rural districts, by two students and a third veterinarian from each district.

At the meeting, governor al-Hadi stressed the importance of concerted efforts to make the work of the associations a success, considering the new year a year for establishing the daily development work of the associations, and starting work according to the paths of construction and development to achieve a development renaissance in the various districts of the provinces.

Al-Hadi stressed the necessity of evaluating the work of associations, correcting mistakes, and addressing shortcomings and stumbling blocks, in order to reach performance indicators, enhance aspects of success, and disseminate them to everyone.

Jeddah to Host West Asian Volleyball Championship

Jeddah will host the West Asian Youth Volleyball Championship, in its first edition, during the period from 15 to 25 August, with the participation of the national teams of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, the UAE, Lebanon, Jordan, and Syria.

The President of the Saudi Arabian Volleyball Federation and Chairman of the Supreme Organizing Committee, Dr. Khaled Al-Zughaibi, affirmed that work is underway to host this Asian event, which will reflect positively on the Kingdom’s organization of international and continental events in volleyball competitions, pointing to the support provided by the wise leadership.

SAMA And HKMA Strengthen Financial Collaboration

As part of enhancing bilateral relations with international counterparts, the Governor of the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA), Ayman Al-Sayari received today at SAMA’s headquarter in Riyadh the Chief Executive of Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA), Eddie Yue, and his accompanying delegation.

The two sides discussed a number of initiatives to strengthen collaboration in several common areas, including financial infrastructure development, open market operations, monetary policy, and Fintech. Both parties shared their experiences in research, development and innovation, highlighting areas of development in supervisory technologies (Suptech), tokenization, and payment infrastructure.

To advance the agreed collaborative initiatives, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the two authorities to facilitate the exchange of expertise and knowledge sharing in areas related to regulatory issues, laws and policies, and best practices in the field of financial innovation.

“Saudi Arabia’s financial sector is growing remarkably and attracting new local and international investors who could bring added value, particularly in the Fintech industry. This growth will contribute to the Kingdom’s journey to be situated as a global Fintech hub and support the diversification of the Saudi economy.” said Al-Sayari, Governor of SAMA.

Al-Sayari added “HKMA is an important partner for the Saudi Central Bank. Today’s MoU will support our relationship and contribute to the consolidation of efforts in developing Fintech industry.

The Chief Executive of the HKMA, Eddie Yue said, “There is huge potential for collaboration between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Hong Kong in areas spanning across economy and trade, green development, finance, and particularly in financial technology. The MoU will further enhance mutual cooperation between SAMA and the HKMA through the exchange of information and expertise relating to regulatory issues, policies, laws and legislation, as well as the development of financial innovation. We look forward to working with SAMA to promote investment and financial market connectivity between the Middle East and Asia.”

Saudi Arabia Participates in 129th Session of IMO Council Meeting

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia participated in the 129th Session of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Council Meeting as one of the 40 council members. It was represented by Vice Minister of Transport and Logistics Services and the Acting President of the Transport General Authority, Dr. Rumaih Al-Rumaih. The Kingdom was also represented by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Energy, and NEOM Company.

The Council is the executive body of the organization and is responsible for overseeing its work, with a focus on budget approval, report review, and coordination among all entities. Its aim is to contribute to decision-making within the organization concerning budgets, policies, maritime affairs, and strategies.

The meeting witnessed the election of Arsenio Dominguez as the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO). Additionally, the meeting discussed the outcomes of the Women in Maritime Biofouling Management workshop held in Jeddah and advanced the Strategic Plan for the period of 2024 to 2029.

Presidency of Two Holy Mosques Affairs Harnesses Modern Technology, Artificial Intelligence to Serve Visitors

The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque is making use of all modern technological tools and artificial intelligence to serve visitors and enrich their experiences.

Director of the Technological Quality Unit at the agency Eng. Mohammed bin Fayez Al-Lahibi said that the Agency for Technical Affairs, Digital Transformations and Artificial Intelligence, of which the unit is part, has published several digital questionnaires to measure the beneficiaries’ satisfaction with the provided digital services. It also published a general survey of a number of staff, to measure their satisfaction with technological reports, especially since the questionnaires enable the agency to refine the provided technological services and develop ideas and proposals that help provide better services.

Languages and Translation Agency of Two Holy Mosques Presidency Offers Multilingual Services to Pilgrims

The Languages and Translation Agency at the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques has implemented operational plans for the Umrah season 1445 AH. The objective is to enhance the quality of services offered to pilgrims and effectively convey the message of the Two Holy Mosques to non-Arabic speakers.

The Undersecretary of the General President for Languages and Translation, Ahmad bin Abdulaziz Al-Humaidi, emphasized the agency’s responsibility in efficiently and expeditiously providing information about the services in over 50 international languages to the beneficiaries.
