1st cinema for young refugees opens in Zaatari camp

Mafraq, A cinema that screens free movies, which was initiated and supported by “Lumiere A� Zaatari” foundation in Paris in partnership with UNICEF and the Imaginarium Films, the managing company of the cinema, opened in the Al Zaatari camp.

Cinema Director Ahmed Amin said Cinema Zaatari aims at programming films that combine education, awareness and entertainment for children of the camp, in cooperation with the Syrian Refugee Directorate, UNICEF and its affiliated centers throughout the camp.

Amin told Petra that all selected films are in Arabic only and are licensed to be displayed in Jordan by the Media Commission. It will screen a show for boys and a show for girls.

“The project team is seeking to build local and regional partnerships aimed at supporting our show program and hosting specialized films programs such as children’s scientific and medical films,” hew added.
