17 Covid deaths, 1,015 infections registered, positive tests at 3.71 per cent

Seventeen coronavirus deaths and 1,015 infections were recorded across the Kingdom Monday, raising fatalities since the outbreak of the pandemic to 10,697 and the caseload to 820,798, according to the Health Ministry.

The positivity rate of PCR tests conducted today was at 3.71 per cent, the ministry said in its daily brief.

It pointed out that the number of active Covid-19 cases currently stands at 12,328, with 62 cases admitted to hospitals today and 76 discharged, while 446 confirmed cases are being hospitalized.

The daily report showed that the occupancy rate of isolation beds in the northern region was 8 per cent, intensive care beds 17 per cent and respirators 8 per cent.

In the Central region, the occupancy rate of isolation beds reached 12 per cent, intensive care beds 21 per cent and respirators 9 per cent, it said.

In the southern region, the occupancy rate of isolation beds was 10 per cent, intensive care beds 10 per cent and ventilators 12 per cent, it said.

Some 973 virus patients have recovered, bringing the total number of expected recoveries after the end of the 14-day isolation period to 797,773, according to the summary.

It also said that 27,367 PCR tests were collected today, bringing the total number of examinations conducted since the pandemic began to 9,985,935.

The ministry said that the number of people who received the first vaccine shot rose to 3,688,092 and some 3,254,505 have been double-jabbed.
