14 new COVID-19 infections reported in Kingdom on Tuesday: MoH

14 new infections with the coronavirus (COVID-19) were reported on Tuesday, bringing the total number of cases registered in the Kingdom since the outbreak of the pandemic to 576.

 

In a press briefing at the National Center for Security and Crisis Management, Health Minister, Dr. Saed Jaber said the new cases were divided into: 5 cases of truck driver contacts from the Al-Khanaseri area at Al-Mafraq Governorate, northern Jordan, including two children who were with their mother, under the age of five.

 

Among the new cases today, 3 students in the Dead Sea area who arrived from the United States and 3 truck drivers on the Al-Omary border crossing, of Arab nationalities and were dealt with according to the protocol, as they were denied entry the Kingdom, according to Jaber.

 

With regard to calculating the cases recorded on the borders, the Health Minister pointed out that, according to the laws of the World Health Organization (WHO), any country that reports any case of COVID-19 on its territory is subsequently counted as part of its cases.

 

Dr. Jaber also announced 3 infections in the Zarqa Governorate and investigations are currently ongoing to identify their causes, noting that the Zarqa Health Director has been instructed to coordinate with the governor and the concerned bodies to limit the cases and the area of infections.

 

The Health Minister confirmed that there were no cases of recovery or deaths reported in the Kingdom today, noting that the number of patients who are still in hospitals under treatment amounts to 122.

 

He pointed out that 4,500 coronavirus tests were conducted today, bringing the total number of tested samples since the outbreak of the pandemic to 123,600 samples.

 

The Minister had started his briefing by congratulating male and female nurses on the International Nursing Day, which coincides today by quoting Her Royal Highness Princess Muna Al Hussein, “You have earned the title of the “White Army”, and have earned the confidence of our leader and the love of the Jordanian people.”
